Julie Allanah aka Julie Vanilli

Julie has mixed feelings about the decade she grew up in. On the one hand there was Duran Duran (swoon!), Sodastream and Bananarama managing to make dungarees sexy and cool. On the other, Shakin’ Stevens released a song called “Oh Julie!”, meaning that for at least 6 months no-one in the playground could say her name without putting “whoa whoa” in front of it.

Originally Julie wanted to be a vet. Then she wanted to be the rock star wife of Adam Ant but once that bubble had burst she decided to become an actress and singer. As an actress she has starred in the West End as the original Belle in Disney’s Beauty and The Beast, with Robert Lindsey in Oliver!, and sharing the run of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s one-woman show Tell Me On A Sunday with Denise Van-Outen.

On TV she’s worked with the likes of Paul Whitehouse and Kelsey Grammer (Seattle’s own Dr Frasier Krane) and has been a guest vocalist for some years for the Kirsch Lounge Riot at the world famous Café de Paris, singing alongside Sam Brown, Clare Teale, The Foundations and Jamie Cullum. But a personal career hi-light came last year when she worked with the actress who provided the voices for hit 80s kids TV show The Flumps!
